Christmas Love

CHRISTMAS LOVE The children had all gathered on stage there to perform Their special Christmas program they practiced for that morn. They were all quite excited about the special songs And all had memorized them, they’d sang them for so long. Each one had special costumes, each one had his own line, They all were dressed and ready; they looked so very fine. They chose a theme quite different and hoped none would object, For every person’s feelings they wanted to respect. Each child would have a letter that he’d hold high and proud As “Christmas love” was spelled out and he said his part loud. As parents sat there watching, soon some began to frown; One little girl was holding her letter upside down. But others started laughing at this girl’s sad mistake, She didn’t pay attention to the phrase they now would make. Her “M” was now a “W” as onward went the play, And when they all were finished with the message in display, A hush came o’er each person, for now the message sent Spoke volumes of the season and what it really meant. As “Christ Was Love” was spelled out, each person knew again This was the real message of peace, goodwill toward men. This little girl’s error was truly God’s own way To quietly remind us of why we have this day. Based on a true story.
