Christmas Joy
God sent Him to us, to save us from sin
His arrival foretold by the sages.
The angels rejoiced when so long ago
They brought news that’s been told through the ages.
Mary the Virgin gave birth to the child
Who had come to bring peace to the earth
The angels sang carols, spreading the word
Proclaiming our Lord’s long awaited birth.
He came to bring peace, he came to bring love,
He was the answer to all the world’s woes.
The shepherds and wisemen came from afar.
To follow the star as far as it goes.
We like the shepherds must follow the star.
It is up there in the Heavens still glowing.
If we would banish all wars and distress
We must follow wherever it’s going.
There is nothing God’s love cannot conquer
Freely given to all those who believe.
The star shows the way to Christmas joy
And blessings of that first Christmas Eve.
