Christmas Is
Christmas Is
Christmas is a toy to a child,
all the gifts make them run wild.
Christmas is a package wrapped nice and tight,
people just burst at the very sight.
Christmas is all the lights turned on
and still glistening till the break of dawn.
Christmas is the family all dressed up,
and sparkling wine in the cup.
Christmas is the bells that ring
as you hear the choir sing.
But really is Christmas any of those things?
Christmas is a fire to warm the heart
it makes us stand together instead of apart.
And though with each situation we may not agree
I believe we find hope in that grand old tree.
Christmas is not just a day to celebrate;
it reminds us to dissolve all and any hate.
Christmas may bring candy canes and gifts galore,
but it should represent so very much more.
Think to yourself how you got to be here;
did you endure pain, suffering, or fear?
Now, do you see the light way, way afar?
Do you see the magic in that shining star?
Christmas should not be about the physical gift,
and if you disagree then through your life you should sift.
