When I was growing up, So many years ago, I knew that the wonder of love, Glistened, a Christmas glow. We spent Christmas Eve together, There at Granny’s house, Listening to the fading breath, Soundless dreams, quiet as a mouse. When I was growing up, back then, All those years from the past, I remember the joy, the peace, the love, Whispered on memories that would last. We spent our time together then, Reflecting on the times we’d shared, Delighting in the laughter, the thrills, Showing one another how we cared. When I was growing up, All those Christmas Eve lights, Revealed the truth of God’s precious Son, Jesus, who the inspired poet writes… Is the answer to all our worst fears, The gentleness who sent us His gift, The promise of eternity in His presence, Eternity with a love that can always lift. It is Jesus, the Son of God – our Creator, Writer of the stars, the gentle grace… One who knows that love is the answer, The reason we celebrate in the first place! This Christmas Eve, just remember – Love like this is beyond description, And even though we celebrate in December, This love is surely our heart’s prescription… With Jesus, there is hope and peace, Wonder that assures us, He’ll make a way… For every heart who believes He is God’s Son, The One who came to us on Christmas Day…. To promise us a love that is forever alive, Surviving the darkest doubts, the worst tears, Stirring our hearts to believe in the One… Who gave us His love to see us through the years… This love He gave – this Christmas season, Reminds us that, with Him, there is a way… Beyond the grief, the pain, the heartbreak – With Him, I’m reminded, everything is okay!

a stirring poem about Christmas. I loved reading about your childhood recollections. I too felt he wonder of love, that glistened at Christmas. That childhood wonder transformed into understanding His love is what I was seeing and feeling at Christmas. Nicely done, Gina. Merry Christmas, Sara
