Christmas Day
The house has been filled for several days now,
With happy voices of our children so dear.
Home for the holidays bustling with cheer.
What a joy to have them near!
Conversations so lively- catching up
On all the happenings in our lives.
Grandchildren playing games,
Daughters laughing, sharing, and comparing,
Music fills the house again.
One of Happiness’ sure signs.
Again we are united as a family
Reminding us all of long ago days,
We all are one year older now,
And some are larger in some ways.
Good food, cooking, and fellowship
With all the sons-in-law and friends-
What a happy, happy, time it is!
We wish it would never end.
All too soon, the parties and dinners are over,
And everything is cleared and packed away.
Suitcases are loaded into cars, goodbyes said,
Hugs and tears shared,
And we’ll wait another whole year
For another Christmas Day.
