Christmas As I Understand It

Well, The National Loonies League is on the prowl again this year, Merrily chipping away at the Christmas traditions we hold dear. Seems to me they could find something more productive to pursue, And let others celebrate Christmastide as they choose to do! I recall Christmas Tree Lightings on the village square. Good heavens! Even a Nativity Scene was on display there! Happy faces were all aglow as they joined in joyous carol. Today, horrified loonies claim such things subject us to peril! I recall when the term "Merry Christmas" didn't cause offense. Nowadays, they claim this cheery greeting makes little sense! Even Santa's "Ho, Ho, Ho" is deemed politically incorrect today. Alas, even religions squabble over the proper symbols to display! Are we going to stand by while they mount their bold assault? Or speak up and bring such trumpery to a screeching halt! Christmas Day is set apart to herald a King's Holy Birth, A time for reflection, sharing, fellowship, love and mirth! Loonies are free to observe whatever it is they commemorate. It's none of their business how others choose to celebrate! They may celebrate the winter solstice are whatever is their proclivity, But as for me and my house - we'll celebrate the Nativity! Yes Bob the Nativity Scene is the grandest decoration of all the others as it reflects the true meaning and spirit of the season luv.. one family on my block of homes has a marble version of it ..it was custom made and the star shines in marble ..the whole scene..animals..angels.. the holy family ..the manger.. its so awesome to see and they play carols all night .. it is two homes down from mine so I get to enjoy the music and sight..appreciate your well wishes.. same to u and Vera..

Bob, it saddens me deeply to think that we are not truly free to worship in a country that was created by those who sought individual freedoms. A very profound write, written in a biting satirical style! Amen to your message. Love, Carolyn

Celebrations of old have literally gone Bob as expressed in your wonderful lines of poetry.. the theme of Christmas is suffocated with commercialism and outrages of protesters ... what do they know? I just finished my Nativity scene today on my open porch and its very vivid and spotlighted too.. bravo for keeping the tradition and message of Christmas alive with your lines my friend.. be blessed this happy day..luv..
