Christmas Merriment

Christmas spirit will prevail with blest merriment Since its Author – CHRIST – is sovereign every moment Thus, the occasion’s worthy jubilant sentiment Should be dominant midst pandemic-caused curtailment. Christmas will reign, though bereft of Santa Claus’ involvement Through God’s love and bliss --- propping giving and caring enjoyment Overcoming selfishness and pride’s enslavement Reaching-out gladly with prayer-empowerment. Thankful* for Christmas’ meaningful fulfillment We exalt the Lord with praise, worship and faith sentiment Confessing discontentment with humble abasement Sharing His gift of life eternal along grace-mercy’s testament.
*Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. December 10, 2020 4th place, "Santa's Covid Christmas" Poetry Writing Contest Sponsored by Carolyn Devonshire; judged on 12/19/2020.
