Christmas
Christmas
Christmas lights adorn
The evergreen
Red, green, blue , clear ones deck the tree
Ornaments : balls , ribbons
Golden, silvery and metallics
Glisten on its thyme and rosemary
Topped with a star
Twinkling in its night sky
The snow glow sings carols into the eve
Pine needles are it’s leaves
Presents at its feet
Sweet warm spicy pine cones
Fill the room
The gingerbread house is built
Topped with hard and chewy candies
Sealed with frosting
A hand written note :
For Santa
Freshly baked chocolate chip
cookies and milk
By the tree
Jolly are the children on the day
Joyful hearts and warm spirits
Candy canes and chocolates
Stuffed stockings above the fireplace
With little useful things
Gloves, scarves, hats, jewelry , makeup , perfume
As the day’s journey ends
The spark goes dim in the eyes
For the spirit of giving is more than a celebration and a gathering of kin
But that of the birth of Jesus Christ
Who God sacrificed for the love of mankind
A symbolic exchange of love
Of communion with ourselves
And the God above
Whose essence lives deep in us
