Chorlton Green (2004)
Today I woke up fearful.
Those tiny slithers of happiness
Had failed to fill the space
where laughter once had reined.
Grabbing my bag, still dressed for sleep
I took a walk down Chorlton green.
Spying on some inspiration
some time to look behind
like rocks and bugs.
But all I found were seasons passing
turning with children and their promises
ladies and their smiles
faces I don't remember too well.
An overwhelming sense of tomorrow
made yesterday feel so long ago.
A smile slowly burnt its way across my face
Rejoicing the mourning of yet another day done.
