Children
CHILDREN
As expressions go, some obsolete
Taken for granted, often weak
A closer look, beneath the hood
Lies hidden truth not understood
Children, our future, it’s often heard
A common notion, but how absurd
For children grow, become full grown
Where are these fruits of seeds they’ve grown?
Mistakes were made along the way
Mistakes of old and yesterday
Followed footsteps, no changes made
Trusting that they make the grade
Aged thoughts I beckon thee
Like waves returning to the sea
Give way to change, release your hold
Let reason shine and truth be told
The future’s now, no time to yield
To future minds whose fate is sealed
Like brittle branches on winter trees
The outcome certain you might agree
