Childhood Memories
My childhood days were long ago,
Known to you as the days gone by.
But I knew for sure, when very young,
That no child was more loved than I.
My mama kissed my childhood woes,
Curing them all without a pill.
When Daddy held me cheek to cheek,
I can feel his sharp whiskers still.
Four big brothers, older than I,
Were all glad when I came along.
They welcomed their little sister,
Perhaps sang a lullaby song.
They whittled toys, those darling boys,
And shared all their sweet treats with me.
Those were such happy carefree days
And I hoped they would always be.
I was three months short of three years,
Perhaps my first true memory,
When Daddy pointed out airplane
That had brought a sister for me.
My siblings gone, no one is left
To share my old memories,
When there was sunshine every day
And my folks tried so hard to please.
