Childhood Memories
I can remember that far back
When we were young and had to pack
For a far away place we had never been
A place in the sun we had never seen
We had to learn to change our lives fast
For these times were going to last
For many years some good some not
But for many years this was to be our lot
The years went past slow for me
Not quite as happy as I hoped they would be
Maybe if you had been near
I may have been able to clear
My head of all those lonely times
Spent wishing for much colder climes
Wher thing had all been safe
Back home in that great old place
Where we had all grown up together
Often in all kinds of weather
A mum and Dad we had it all
Until one day when it was all to fall
Apart i will never forget
Our lives would change from that day next
Never again to be the same
I dream and wish that all the pain
Would leave me now
But I am not sure how
you can just put the past away
And get on with another day
But i must not dwell upon the past
For some things were not meant to last
