Childhood Joys

My sweet childhood Oh this classroom of August, Oh the heat and humidity, Oh the teacher still taking lessons, Oh such thick book and a long lesson, Oh nothing going into my head, Oh let them teach.. bla bla bla, Can anyone tell what use it will be ? I will get good scores mom says, I will get good ranking in exams, I will be selected for higher studies, I will get a good job, I will get good money, I will live happy further after, May I tell you what am I losing now ? My little childhood joys, My plays with the toys, My lovely playground, My desire to sing and dance, My desire to meet friends, My desire to google on tab, My desire to download, Am I not losing my present? Take me to the sea so vast, Take me where breeze blows fast, Take me to the greener earth, Take me to garden of flowers, Take me where love has no dearth, Take me where birds freely fly, Take me where animals play hide and seek, Let nature be my classroom and God my teacher !! Let Him teach me fly sky high, Let Him teach me climb mountains so rough, Let Him teach me dive deeper in sea, Let Him drive me into right emotions, Let Him give me lessons on humanity, Is there any teacher greater than Him ?? Hence don't show me books and school !! Inspired by Dr Suess' way to writing poems for children Written August 28th, 2015 © Dr. Upma A. Sharma

A very thought provoking poem especially when I'm a bit like the parent in stanza 2! Well done.
