Childhood Friend
My Childhood Friend
You will forever live on in my mind.
Even knowing you are in a better place.
There was a time I was broken in pieces.
A time I was frozen by horrific memories.
I have had to put myself back together.
Find warmth from the cold that still plagues
Those who did this to you, still living.
Thank you for holding my hand and
Running through the field with me.
Thank you for calling, for trying so hard.
We were young, innocent, what could we do?
Please know I will forever speak for you.
I may have been too young, too stuck,
To do something more at the time.
But not anymore, never again.
I will let the world know who you are.
My childhood friend, so committed, so good
Taken by people who couldn’t love.
No matter how much we tried or what we did.
The pure golden field is ours my friend.
The walls of darkness belong to them.
