Poet: Ken Jordan Poem: Childhood Edited by: Sparkle Jordan written: April/2014                 /\               /     \            /        \         /       :  \      /          \ \      \_____ \ __/                     # \                      #   \                   # \                #             #              #                 #                    #                       #                      #                   # I remember  those  Gulf coast summer days, when I was  young - flying my kite  under  the Florida sun - Mama, never had to worry about me, cause  she knew I'd be - flying my kite, in the backyard - Those were  the  good old days, when I didn't have a care in the world - I'd  fly my kite the whole day long - To me and my friends, life was sweet, a homemade  kite, flying in the sky - with a long tail, lots of kite string, and a  Gulf coast breeze - I know those days  are  gone, but sometimes when I look  back to  my unforgettable childhood days I wish those days would have never gone away - I can still see mama, cooking soul food in the kitchen, and the good smells from mama's pots wafting through the neiborhood air - These were precious moments in my life - flying my homemade kite on the Gulf coast, under the  Florida sun -
