I remember
those
Gulf coast
summer
days,
when I was
young -
flying my kite
under
the Florida
sun -
Mama,
never had
to worry
about me,
cause
she knew
I'd be -
flying
my kite,
in
the
backyard -
Those were
the
good old
days,
when I didn't
have
a care
in
the world -
I'd
fly my kite
the
whole day
long -
To me
and
my friends,
life
was sweet,
a
homemade
kite,
flying
in
the sky -
with
a long
tail,
lots of
kite string,
and
a
Gulf coast
breeze -
I know
those days
are
gone,
but
sometimes
when
I look
back
to
my
unforgettable
childhood
days
I wish
those days
would have
never gone
away -
I can still
see
mama,
cooking
soul food
in
the kitchen,
and
the good
smells
from
mama's
pots
wafting
through
the
neiborhood
air -
These
were precious
moments
in
my life -
flying
my homemade
kite
on the
Gulf coast,
under the
Florida sun -
