Child of the Darkest Day
My day was fine
Walked in the sunshine
This day was one of a kind
'Til you crossed my mind
And made it rain.
The dark rain splattered
The people scattered
My defenses shattered
Nothing else mattered
When I though of you.
How could you take my brightest day
and turn it into gray
Just when I thought I was okay
You made me say
"I love you."
Then you left me stranded
Yes, I felt abandoned
All my sins reprimanded
GOD why have you demanded
That I be punished this way.?!
The tears began to flow
My friends walked out the door
I thought suicide was the way to go
Hell was my destination, I know
But it seemed my hell was on earth.
Like a firecracker in the rain
My love died and brought the pain
Feelings left unexplained
'Til I seen you once again
And a spark ignited in my heart.
I never dreamed of getting over you
The day you told me we were through
Yet and still I never knew
If you felt the same way, too,
about me, as a felt for you.
But I'm standing here today
Although I'm not over you, I daresay,
I won't allow you to get in my way.
I hope you're not in my life to stay,
because I love you
Child of the Darkest Day.
