Chief Watching

Protecting my family and friends is my job. Heading towards my house is an angry mob. This gun in my hand is a giant mistake. I need to put it down for my families sake. I'm dressed in my traditional clothes. Will I die in combat? nobody knows. I put my game face on, and hide my fear inside. And I only have the great lord Jesus on my side. If I die tonight, my soul will be finally free. Just promise you'll always remember me. poem for the picture ''Chief Watching'' Poem By: Cherica Eckiwaudah

This is such a sad poem. The narrator having to do the unthinkable and regretting it, knowing fully that it isn't the right thing to do. You displayed so much emotional here that the reader fully understands the motivations and thoughts of the "chief". Amazing! Also, Cherica is such an unusual name. Do you know where it comes from or what it means? Nathaniel x

To know one's mistakes and to march on from there... a poem that beats in the heart of us all, hopefully there will be no need for violence.
