Chelsea Mourning

Chelsea Mourning We’ve been so close down through the years Now we’ve said goodbye through many tears God called me home…”too soon” you said As you held me close and cradled my head You knew this battle could not be won And did what you knew, must be done. You didn’t want me to suffer so And so it was, that you let me go You held my paw in your trembling hand And I hope someday you will understand What you did was for the best For I was ready for my rest You stopped the pain you saw in my eyes As you tearfully said your sad goodbyes Your love and friendship has set me free Please don’t cry and grieve for me! Remember the good times we three have had (Forget all the times that I was bad) Tell all the squirrel’s and birds goodbye They can roam free now under the sky We’ve laughed, we’ve traveled so many miles Together we’ve shared so many smiles Me in the back seat…you in the front From the time I was a little runt For fifteen years we've shared each day I've never thought of running away Though there were times when I was just a pup You wished that I would hurry up And train myself to pee in the yard And I really did try very hard! I'd watch you as you cleaned the rug Knowing today there'd be no hug! I’ll still be there with you , I’m still here I’ll be watching you both, so never fear You won’t see me…but I’ll see you Watching everything you do Good friends never say goodbye Just “see you later” bye and bye So dry your tears and try to smile I’ll see you both in a little while!
