Chasing Visions
[originally intended this for the Mountains contest, but must have missed the submissions deadline as it seems be closed already]
I am forever chasing visions
as I ride atop the crest of waves
snow-peaked mountains loom beyond sea rim
clutching languidly at passing clouds
somber in early dawn - a lion
waking up slow from untroubled sleep.
All nature's creation - the gurgle
of flowing springs, the forest in bloom
bow to their majesty and radiance
like admiring and loyal subjects
puny creature as I am, I feel
like David taking on Goliath.
Entranced, I'm drawn towards this vision
I drink lavishly and sate my thirst
their magnificence transforming me
I, David, have become Goliath.
the king of kings have bestowed on me
their awesome power and elegance.
Today, I shall be invincible.
the mountains, the Force, have awakened
I kneel as a tap on my shoulder
has given me confidence to toss
blithely any dice on life's game board
and it will roll in grace, not fall short.
So I sigh at my visions - but think
how I can soar free to the heavens
no longer earth-bound, and fly with ease
to pedestals of my choice, such that
I can move mountains and wave them so
like a wand to empower my day.
