Chasing the Dream

We both play this game But yet I’m the only one left in this shame We all follow our dreams But I’m the only one stuck in the seams Don’t you see what you do to me You do everything right But I’m always stuck in this fight Everything looks so easy from the distance But I’m far from chasing innocence I always wear my heart on my sleeve But you always give me less reasons to believe With you everyone loves what they see But I’m always chasing the dream They say time is of the essence But I can never see past the present They say don’t be held back by fear But every scar brings back a tear We both play this game But yet I’m the only one left in this shame We all follow our dreams But I’m the only one stuck in the seams I’m always haunted by my past Seems like these blessings will never last Inside I know that I’m not good enough for you Inside I know it’s too good to be true Always walking such a fine line But never getting a sign I long for the end to come For a place where I truly belong I’m always running as fast as I can But I’m always left in the sand Day after day I give it my best Yet you’re the one that’s always blessed Don’t you see what you do to me You do everything right But I’m always stuck in this fight Everything looks so easy from the distance But I’m far from chasing innocence Every sigh Is a result of a lie Deep inside I know I can’t do this on my own I need to step down from my throne I had to learn to fall Before I could break down these walls I needed God to see Life is bigger than me We both play this game But yet I’m the only one left in this shame We all follow our dreams But I’m the only one stuck in the seams I always wear my heart on my sleeve But you always give me less reasons to believe With you everyone loves what they see But I’m always chasing the dream
