Chasing Tales of Reincarnation
Past and present lives find ways to connect, no matter the horror.
Dreams, visions and our subconscious, prior ones tend to borrow.
The monster that has chased me for years inside my dreams
has almost human eyes but gnashing wolf like teeth.
I know if he could catch me he would surely gobble me up.
He seems so much a part of me, though I can't imagine such.
So close I hear his jaws snap shut and feel his hot, heavy breath.
I know if he catches me before I wake, would no doubt mean my death.
While awake in my apartment, having escaped his deadly bite,
he makes himself known through sounds, still giving me a fright.
Low, deep growls, scratching claws, and the worst, those crunching bones.
Children laughing and innocently calling him to come inside their homes.
This is crazy. It's insane. I can't take this torture anymore.
Trying to outrun years of nightmares, I bolt right out my door.
I hail a taxi but it doesn't slow, then instinctively I give chase.
Falling behind I give up, then my head uncontrollably shakes.
Left then right, back and forth so fast, I must be possessed.
Then uncontrollably laughing; never being so happy as this!
This thing in my dreams was simply memories. Now I can see it so well.
For many years ago there lived a puppy, and me........I was his tail.
I hope you all guessed this story was fiction.
