Chasing Rainbows
Fragile hearts need time to heal
from an emotional fall.
For fragmented feelings feel
like you've no feelings at all.
Pining for forgotten times,
you neglect your broken heart.
And as anxieties climb,
depression tears you apart.
Fantasies go up in flame
when forever hopes don't last.
And lovers reap only shame
from memories of the past.
Alcohol and magic pills
numb your aversion to death.
And pursuing taboo thrills
adds danger to every breath.
Paying an outrageous toll,
you're forced to choose fight or flight.
And dreams devastate your soul,
chasing rainbows in the night.
