Celebrating November and December

November's a lovely month when leaves turn crimson and gold, but I was nearly smothered, covered by three feet of leaf mold. Being so short, my cohorts raked a pile of them over my head, then ran away laughing, while I lie sneezing and left for dead! Some shake their heads at me and say, "Your accident prone." But was it my fault when I choked on a roasted turkey bone? It could've happened to any one of them, to say the least, when we sat on Thanksgiving Day to share in our family feast. I really love the holidays celebrated in November and December, except for last year when I caught on fire by a burning ember. I'm careless, they say, but swear someone blew it straight at me! Who would try to keep me from decorating my Christmas tree? It was December 24th, when I took a spill and broke my nose. I spent two days in the hospital. A comatose Christmas blows! You see, while skiing icy slopes, I took a tumble and hit a tree. When I got home, I saw that Santa had left no presents for me! The last two months of the year are always my favorite ones, but having too much fruitcake and eggnog gives me the runs. Next year I'll leave Santa a note saying, "I'll make you a deal. Leave me gifts this year or I'll tell all the kids you're not real!" November 11, 2022 November or December Quatrain Contest Sponsored by Caren Krutsinger

this is adorable Jenna. My daughter has a girl friend just like you. Once at the grocery store some one launched some thing over the aisle and it collided with Doree. Some of us are truly walking miracles. Be careful dear..

You certainly took the reader on a tumble or two in this fun poem Jenna, and looks like your ultimatum to Santa has payed off too, A little elf told me he got a very strange order to build a titanium armoured fireproof suit for a girl in the USA this year, all the best for contest, cheers David

Oh sorry, David. I hope you didn't break your nose, too! That suit of armor sound great, but I'm afraid I couldn't afford the price of such a dual-purpose safety net. lol Thanks so much!

Glad to read that this is fiction, you had me believing Jenna! I love how each "trauma" is ensconced in humor and still creates holiday imagery!! Happy Saturday xxoo

Oh my, if all of these tragic events had been real, I'd be living a Murphy's Law life! Thanks for liking it, Mike.

Sounds like the life of a very active little girl. I'm sure Santa was amused by your "deal." Good writing, as always, Jenna.
