Cast Your Bread On the Waters
Cast your bread on the waters
After many days you'll find it again
Of this be sure sons and daughters
No matter how many starless nights there've been
Cast your bread on the waters
And after many days you'll find it again
Coming down from your Father
Of heavenly lights who knows just how, where and when (chorus)
As a high wind blew in the morning
He went out in tears sowing seed
And his hands were not idle in the evening
With hopes that they both would succeed
In time the clouds became dark and gray
And the trees began shaking their leaves
But he reaped the fields with songs of joy
And returned carrying in his sheaves
(Chorus)
Before gathering the sheaves into barns
He gave all the firstfruits to God
Then loading up a seafaring vessel
He prayerfully shipped the harvest abroad
Expecting to receive a good return
He waited patiently night and day
But when the great increase finally arrived
It came sailing in from another way
{Bridge}
For He who supplied seed for the sower
And bread for food will multiply
The seed you have sown and will increase
The righteous fruit of your enriched supply
(Chorus)
