Captivated

It was in his gaze The intent look of depth As though he saw more Than I’d allow him to see As though he could see Right through me Like the walls didn’t matter Or the gates were fluid And no matter how concrete My poker face could be It meant nothing If he could read my thoughts And answer my unspoken words With a facial expression He would tread ever so lightly On the painful memories Yet dive in where there’d Be nothing but joy And his questions were Calculated As he knew my next step Like a dance Or a game Not blinking at all He got me intrigued More so Held my attention So easily
