Captain and Janell

As I stared despairingly at the transom, my daughter declared, as she gave a smile winsome: “I wouldn’t stand for such a name, if I were Janell! It’d be okay of course, if Janell refers to the vessel…” Captain disdain abounds in fields chock-full of chauvinism A female pursuing a career within must be into masochism! Put on a brave face girl, and grit your teeth shut The ponytail pretties better go or you ‘are’ the promoted **** As seriousness cannot be equated with feminineness, it is best you strut like you’re swinging two pe!!ses… Now it’s nice to see more of the younger generation, accept it’s work and education, not gender identification! ahhh, yes, you work in this industry! I admire you the kind of work you do in a male dominated field. Nice seeing this poem of yours today, susan. How are things going?

Hi Andrea, nice to see you here. Thank you. Things are still so busy; it's getting better in the industry I must say, but it tends to be older dudes with attitude; they take a while to thaw out; younger guys seem to just take it in stride which gives me hope for the future...but this morning, I just saw a young mom cussing at an older guy cos he didn't have his dogs on a leash and we were at an outdoor coffee spot, she got my blood boiling coz she had her little boy sitting there too. I told her that she needed to mind that and she gave me the finger! ugh! :)
