Cansu
For Cansu
If you have crossed a creek at twilight
And seen the dew on petals of a rose
If you have maybe heard an army of angels sing
Just as a snowflake was landing on your nose
If you have ever flown across the sapphire skies
Or caught a glimpse of crimson butterflies
If you have felt the autumn breeze around you swirl
Or fell in love upon a young girl’s twirl
If you have overheard the nightingale’s sweet ode
While she puts her hatchlings down to sleep
In short, if you have ever dreamt
a dream that cannot be
Then you might begin to understand
The beauty of the creature that I love.
Those black, doe eyes that bend the will
Are so unknown and yet so kin
I feel I’ve seen them once before
Within the shadow of a dream
And thus, as I try to recall,
I am trapped within my tv screen.
Regretfully, I turn it off.
From now on, I don’t belong to me.
