Oh, how this gave me chills! I, too, have seen some of Kennedy in Obama and I pray for our new president's safety. I hope only part of Camelot will repeat itself -- the good part. This is an absolutely astonishing comparison. A kiss to you, Vince. And a renewed hope in our country's leadership.

Well, we'll see won't we. I never liked Kennedy. I was 18 when he was assasinated. I truely believe he meant well for the whole of our society, but coming from wealth & being a womanizer, left him out of my "role model" book. Pres. Obama comes from the people and seems to understand making the rich richer doesn't make the poor any less poor. I pray for him. Light & Love Debbie Thanks for reading my blog!

God I hope not ... smile ... JFK had the women going in the back door and the mafia coming out the front ... I think Obama is a much different cat and hopefully his demise will be from old age. Camelot was a scam and the people arn't buying it anymore ... even Caroline is not qualified ... the times they have forever changed and thank goodness!! Can you tell your write has me fired up ... LOL ...

Vince, I love this beautifully written poem. It is a time for unity in our nation. I am generally not very pollitically minded person but we need good leadership and yes, less greed. "Hope being restored" perfect! Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Love, Robin

Let's hope, Vince, that after all the glitter is gone we don't simply forget about unity, go on like spoiled children expecting the American dream to just come waltizing up uninvited. Always enjoy your insights. Love, daver

Vince, I appreciate this thought-provoking piece. You have definitely pushed a hot button here, as evidenced by some vehement comments. I try to respect anyone who speaks their mind honestly, whether I agree with their opinion or not! I will always stand up for what I believe, no matter how unpopular it may make me. By the way, I love the way you formed this poem. Very nicely done! With admiration, Donna G.

Besides, anyone other than Bush would be better and could have won. Any Democrat, even a dog for that matter, could have won given Bush' tragic record. And not being blasphemous, Christ himself could have run as a Republican and He would still have lost, such was Bush' sorry record. So no, there's no Camelot, it's just another new leader no better than others before him and we should not read more from it than what it actually is. And the beat goes on, sing Sonny & Cher. Don't hope for too much, you might just be disappointed. A poet once wrote "We always open a door with hope, then closing it with despair." Just like the original Camelot, full of hope. Which was then immediately followed by the Bay of Pigs fiasco, getting into deeper involvement in Nam, etc. etc. So, no, as a history buff, I won't bet on it. No such thing as Camelot.

Although perhaps a re-make of Camelot - can we hope at last?

You are so right, we have to respect our President, he represents all of us, whether we voted for him or not, he won the election...now we have to wait, and see, and pray to God for guidance.....I love your write, the way you went from one time to the next, different but very much the same....always, Christy

It is always a time for unity, despite who is in office. When we vote someone in, whether or not we personally vote for that person, we still must stand unified behind our president, for it is never the president that makes sole decisions, but rather it's all the branches of gev't. With that said, I still found this an enjoyable read and I too look forward tyo a hopeful change but typically it's the person in office that gets changed in order to conform to the role. Michael
