California Girl
Saw a girl walkin’ down the road
Stopped to talk, then that pretty face glowed
"Hey there girl, where ya headin’?"
"California, babe. You’re a swinger I’m bettin’."
California Girl was her name
Thought life was just a game
Lived too fast, lived too hard
Now she’s been dealt her last card
We were drivin’ down the highway
Told her she was goin’ my way
To California, the place of dreams
The place of lies, the place of schemes
California Girl was her name
Put her momma to shame
Endulged too much, had a little more
Now she’s left this world, what for?
Made it to California, what a sight to see
We were gonna rule it all, just her and me
Stopped into this little hotel she knew
Not a lotta people were there, only a few
California Girl was her name
Never wanted to be the same
She had everything, she had it all
But then her life took a horrible fall
This hotel was heaven, you know
They offered grass, they offered snow
She vanished for hours then came back
I knew our lives had left the track
California Girl was her name
Knew she was destined for money and fame
Played the good boys, loved the bad
She never even knew of the life she had
A month into our hotel stay
My baby California Girl had begun to stray
Woke up late one night to find her dead
Layin’ on the floor right next to my bed
California Girl was her name
Thought life was just a game
Lived too fast, lived too hard
Now she’s been dealt her last card
