By Chance

He met her by chance… A swing to defined routines and melting pots and he met her, She said nothing and nor did he They watched as words flew by and insults drowned in memories of love And they still knew each other by chance Flames grew louder and cheers sang along But no one paid attention to chance He called her nothing when no one could hear For she bore no name worth a chance but his He’d met her and slipped a page off his book for her to read …if by chance she cared And when she called and recited himself to her He knew it wasn’t by chance
