Butterflies In a Box
i had a dozen butterflies in a shiny pink box
every day i would peek to see if they were doing okay
i would gently lift the lid and try not to let a single one out
i held them oh so gingerly
when i lifted the cover of the box
i saw the most beautiful light surrounding the butterflies
it was a light of happiness
a light of new promises
the light within the box had an unusual power
it overtook my heart and i began to sing
it was a song that i had never heard before
a song of enchantment
a song of eternal peace
it was as though the Creator came and deposited
a massive amount of joy within me
i was overcome with emotion and tried to close the lid
but the power of its contents was too great to bare
i could not close the lid all the way
i asked the Creator to help me in closing the lid
he said, “ i wanted to allow a few butterflies out to give you a glimpse of your future”
he then took the lid and closed it for me for a short time
he promised to return another day and remove the lid permanently
humbled in His presence I thanked Him for His eternal love
the gifts of the Creator are priceless
