Butterflies Flew Away

Looking into your eyes I felt the warmth in you Smiles and laughter drew me nearer How is it that we've never met before now and yet sitting across from you I felt I'd known you forever I felt the presence of others but I never saw them There was only you. So many stories we told each other of our heartaches and our triumphs but all of that was so insignificant to the way you made me feel. Butterflies in my tummy flew away, although my heartbeat grew fast We spent hours... and I could have spent days with you but you couldn't know that. I think you liked me, our smiles were infectious between us, I so hoped you liked me and more.. I ate cake and didn't care, I told you things that even my mum doesn't know Over the top of my coffee cup I watched you... kind, gentle, funny, smart I felt joy and excitement, but you didn't you know that? But I'm so glad you asked me to see you again Because maybe then I'll get to tell you...

A lovely observation... tender, gentle and utterly delightful! It will appeal to everyone, 'cos who hasn't felt those butterflies at one time or another? Well done, Allie!! Best wishes, Keith

Good luck if this is a true to life experience..We as humans have a tendency not to tell another what they mean to us..Keep the creative pen flowing..Your comments are so encouraging..Sara

Thank you for sharing your poetry Allie. Poets here offer such diverse writings and to me it is a pleasure to read each and everyone. I will not be here at the Soup to read from Friday through Monday. I hope you will find mountains of inspiration during that time. I look forward to reading when I return. Have a great weekend. Love, Carol
