Burnt-Out
You puzzle me boy, round and round
This splintered time living in my head
I’m losing control with your late- street life;
Is this your face now, like a gas mask
Red nicotine shades my half-closed eyes,
And when I awake you go to bed, hazed.
This new facade, a filthy smokescreen
A wisp pulsing on specks of dark;
Sorry, there’s no last deal; it’s gone too far
You can burn, burn the shadows thin
While jiggle of your boogie nights
Chars our spaced-out dreams.
Flickers dim a love once true
Yeah get your fix, boy; waste your hours
The distance between us blows
Circles in your eyes drift by the sill,
Although I find a puff of jolt in your hush
It’s time to go; that potion breathes in black.
