Bums Unite

All you bums of the world unite! Now I don't mean the fleshy kind I mean the ones you see on the streets “Brother can you spare a dime?” That must have been many years ago 'Coz you can't get a coffee for that Might pay the tax on a small size cup But I'm not even sure of that fact What are they begging for nowadays A couple of bucks or more? That doesn't get you very much either It will soon be a ten spot for sure Really don't mind helping them out These poor unfortunate souls I pray it stops, this downward spiral Before I'm in that very same role? © Jack Ellison 2013

I'm only probably about one dime ahead of some of those guys lol. I always give them money too. I must say I prefer the can you spare something, as opposed to the long back stories that then make me question whether or not they are decieving me lol. Usually if I see them there I just offer them change, maybe a couple of dollars, once or twice a five, just to stop the back story, but when ten spots come out, I'm switching professions lol. Nice as always Jack.

Wow! A ten spot... you, my friend, I think are in the minority! LOL Living out in the wilderness as I do, I'm never confronted by these mostly poor unfortunate souls but if I was... thanks Wayland!

Hey brother, can you spare a rhyme? lol. The tax on a small cup is unfortunately hilarious.

You know... They ought to form a union 'Bums or us'. They could be hired to linger or be in the 'Walking Dead' or 'Zombie movies'. Think of what the studions could save on make up... Or clean them up and feed them to make a new place opening up look busy... Or the libraries could use them to sweep up... They linger there all day any way... Pay them to help out... Or let them volunteer to go to the moon... why not meet the aliens they talk about... Or just give them vouchers to competers stores.

Oh Jack...may you never be there! Life is hard on the down and out and we can't lump all the bums together! ;) Some could do better but others are in a vicious cycle! A better day IS coming! Hugs!

Of course you're right. We must all be aware that some are the victims of an unfortunate happening in their lives and with others, it's an "easy" way out! Hugs, Jack xox

This is a fantastic and fabulous write my friend! You have brought the bums to the forefront and where there might be hopes of having a way of getting them out of this horrible life! Unfortunately some of them enjoy being that way and wouldn't work for anything, sad if you ask me! You have pleased me with the splendor of this amazing poem Jack! I am enthralled by your incredible piece here this morning! What a spectacular poem, Great Work!!
