Broken Wings of War

The youth fight for the old They have not seen fear Eighteen still young Going off to war Returning a man Their thoughts and dreams disappear Memories of death Is all they have left For the rest of their lives These memories never subside Medals won Placed in a box gathering dust Old they become Hero’s lost among the young All they have left Are the broken wings of war

A sad reality for some, if not most--your last verse brings truth--'twas my brother who fought, but 'tis me who holds his box, he was only nineteen, an honorable FAVE for me ~ Aloha always, William.
