Broken Hearts

What did I say to tear us apart? What lies pulled us into this lover’s grave? What has caused our love to grow so cold, and our treasure to be forever lost? You stand waiting for the chance to bring our faces back to our souls, to end the trouble in our hearts, to begin a new life with love made whole. You hope that someday we shall be more than false fair weather friends. We could leave but we stay, strangers sleeping in the same bed. Our sheltered hearts no longer whole, drift farther and farther from first love. We walk lonesome paths into the past all the time hoping for one more chance. In the end it is me who has fallen out of love and you who holds dear our love forlorn. All we have is love long since passed. An enduring chill that forever will last.
