Broken Friendship

An empty space, a brokenness cuts deep within my soul. You once filled that sacred place now a chasm lies so cold. We had a friendship, defined, yet unspoken held on by our own set of rules. I took a chance and spoke in violation now forsaken, I wonder if I was a fool. If honest words could not withstand the friendship we had found then maybe our relationship was not on solid ground. Written in July, 2007

Was this written about a girl? It reminds me of how some past girlfriends have saddened me. The emotion is well spoken and so is the healing logic. All read true and I enjoyed it, related to it ... CayCay

Yes, it was a close girlfriend at the time. I have lost a few, and sometimes wonder if it was how I handled it that made it go sideways. Anyway, you live and learn. It's still hard. Thanks for liking and relating to my poem, CayCay :)

Laura, l could definitely relate to this piece. People come and go in your life, and some last a lifetime. If your friendship was built on a solid foundation you guys would still be friends. Great job? I agree with CayCay did you enter this piece in PD's contest?:-) Alexis

I can relate to this. In my case, I would be addressing a girlfriend. I hope you put this in the ... Poems Before PS Contest. It is simple yet full of human emotion on a universal level. CayCay

Hello my friend, we find out who our true friends are when our chips are down. Some so-called friends, will "hangout" with you, long as the Neon lights are burning. But, when the candle in your life begin to flicker, the one you thought were your friend is gone, when you need them most. Read my, "True Friend," poem. I know about, "Broken Friendship."
