Bringing Home Delilah

As I was checking out the cats on view, I saw just one who even seemed to care. She put white paws up to the glass, this Blue Calico with long, gray orange hair. Although her nature mattered most to me, I liked that she was small, with eyes of green. And nestling in my arms, she proved to be both gentle and uncommonly serene! Inside our house, she didn't run or hide like other cats that we'd brought home before. She jumped onto the bed and lay beside us both, then later found things to explore. Delightful like her name was our new cat, I couldn't have been happier for that! For Ryan Jackson's "Animals on your mind... Poetry Contest"

Was this a fictional write, or did you have a cat named Delilah? I only remember you mentioning Callie. Nice sonnet.

Yes, I had this cat. She got the peeing habit like other cats I've had and I had to give her up. Half my cats end up not using the litter box and we can't have cats peeing on carpet. Anyway, I nicnamed her Lilah Vampira!! I did a swap quatrain on her . Brian did not like it, haha.

I also have a phobia of cats. i was mauled by claws during a nap at 5 years old. SO, being that the last poem I nearly avoided by you because of a stupid phobia, turned out to be an EXCELLENT read....Well, I read this one anyways. Not my favorite poem by you, because DANG IT, it really was about cats....YOU TRICKED ME! I shall go with my phobia instincts and avoid ALL phobia poems by YOU from now on! --- I am Sooooo Kidding right now.BUt it was fun, & the poem was still crap, no it was GREAT!

Lovely tribute to Delilah. I remember bringing home Paddy (our first dog) - I couldn't believe such a tiny creature could cause such utter chaos and mayhem, LOL
