Breeze
BREEZE
I have been looking for you!
Have known all your life where you
think you’ve been hiding! I could break
your defenses with the violent precision
of Roman legionaries dismantling a town
in the Syrian desert or the forests of Gaul
or of Federal Marshalls crashing you door
at 4:30 AM, automatic weapons announcing
the dawn, but I want a different approach:
the light that penetrates the dark shaded
window, the sound that defeats the masonry
wall, the raindrops that seep through the
waterproof calking, common sense piercing
the bullet-proof vests of dogma and belief,
or better yet, please, let me be your guide
to the nuances of nature and the changes of
my seasons, and let me be the breeze that
cools you and warms you every minute,
every day, because, open and fearless,
you walk in the sun and lie down
with the moon!
