Breathing Lessons
The young oak in the backyard
has donned his yellow
before all the others
flaunting
flirting
struttin' his STUFF
lookin'
SOOOO
GOOD!...
...and the elders are smiling
taking their
time
having spent enough
in the space between breaths
to realize
to recognize
that to live is to die
smiling
oneness
smiling
sameness...
Autumn...
...is an exhale.
