Box and Cage
Box And Cage
Cage landed on the desert island empty
Made of wood it floated in
Settled on the sand
A box invaded next
Rolled in on salted swells
For forty years I watched the sun and moon
Marooned, but happy eating coconuts and fish
My only visitors are this
Box and cage are now my company
Sometimes I go inside the cage to watch the day
Sometimes I climb inside the box to meditate
They are both a perfect fit
We do what we do best
Hold it together
We wait
