Book of Time
I would close the book of time
if I could.
That should make every yesterday and tomorrow
today.
If only that could take away
the pain and its memories.
It would force me to face the reality
of now to accept it as it is
nothing more, nothing less, only now.
That would still leave your life here
drawn around and sharing mine.
Closing the book of time
could not erase what was between us.
If only that were possible
to take away the heartache that remains.
It should be less painful
being left behind to living without you
knowing you will never return today.
Then let us close the book
knowing there is no stopping time.
Time is ever moving forward
marked only by our lives as lived
There the memories and love survive
without us.
There they will always be
alive
forever, marked in time.
