Blue Rose

I picked a rose on the side of the road It was bright red Like the blood that in my veins flowed More alive than the life I led More perfect it could not get So I took it home with me Loved it with everything I had I wanted to preserve it's beauty Make sure no harm would come to thee I took care of every leave and thorn Thought that with time eventually Some form of love would be born But thy love like thou met an early demise Oh rose, red rose, my blue rose in disguise
