As the blossoms upon the star magnolia Begin to fall, those blueberries now enter full bloom The pear tree has some white blossoms Peeking through tender green leaves doomed The weather prediction is for freezing No one let the red-bellied woodpecker know Nor the volunteer butterbeans that came up Since the warm spring weather showed

Oh dear, so much promise in spring and then sneaky winter turns around and pounces. We are in a desert region, and we can have the most amazing weather through most of winter. In April when everything looks so promising and I can hardly hold back from planting a garden, we can get a freeze, or snow. Even in the desert winter is sneaky. I'm sorry you lost some of your garden, that is so sad. I hope sunny weather comes your way soon, and you have a bountiful harvest despite the early losses. <3

BJ, I don't think it is quite as bad as we had thought. The blossoms that were on the blueberries are gone but the pear trees and the plum look like they will be okay. The corn and some other things in the garden are gone but some are going to make it that is if there isn't another freeze or frost. Thanks for the visit. Interesting information about the dessert. I have seen on TV how that the dessert can get so cold at night but really did not think too much about it, but it would be very destructive. Thanks for the visit to my page. Sara

Lindsay, I think it might finally be here, but we still could drop down until after Easter. In the south, it comes a little earlier than the north. I imagine that some in the north are itching to get the planting under way as well. Thanks for your kind review. Sara

Beautifully described here Sara. We get a lot of that here on the prairies. Nicely done. God Bless, JB

Judy, The predicted weather came and we have lost a lot of what would be food later on this year so maybe another year. Thanks for your visit and kind review. I don't guess we have been in the area of the prairies in our travels. I am sure it is a nice place. Thanks for the visit to my page. Sara

I know! Our few flowers were decimated by the storm! Love your imagery! …red-bellied woodpecker and volunteer butterbeans!

Kim, Sorry you lost plants as well. I guess you like us will have to start over. Of course, it is mostly on my husband. He says some things might be okay like some cabbage plants but we will see in a few days. He just loves to go out there and put plants and seeds in the soil. I am no longer able to do all that. I do a few plants in my boxes and in my herb garden. Thanks for your visit. Sara

Oh! I guess they will manage in the frigid weather somehow, Sara, great contrast:)

Jo, Thanks for the visit with a nice review. I think that the trees will survive but probably no fruit this year or scarce amount. It happens sometimes. The blossoms on the apple tree all turned brown and are gone. Sara

Valsa, The star magnolia and the Japanese magnolia (tulip tree) have turned brown and they are over for this year. I enjoyed them while they were okay though. I think that it got the blueberries but have not been out to see how they faired because last night was coming with really low temperatures once again and no wind so more damage would be done. Thanks for stopping by. Sara

Thank you, Jennifer. It did get down to 29 degrees and I think the wind has laid so probably most tender things are hurt or dead. We will see in a few days how it all turns out. I was hoping that we would not lose all the fruit, berries, and garden seed that my husband had already planted. Your visits to my page are always uplifting. Sara

Andrea, Spring is fickle for sure. I hope all your plants are protected or have they started blooming yet? Thanks for the visit. Sara

Tom, We had some very warm days then it cooled off again with it supposed to go down in the twenties at night this week end. Your visit is most appreciated. Sara

Sara, I enjoyed your poem. What a shame to see a "freeze." After everything is budding. Blessings ~ Debra

Debra, I hope it doesn't make all the blueberries, pears, and apples lose their crops for this year. We usually try to do a little saving of the fruit in one way or another and we share with others around as well. Thanks for dropping by. Sara
