Blinded By the Light
There’s something more valued
than dollars and cents…
humanity trumping pretend
Your mantra has been
that “winning’s enough”
losing yourself in the end
Each attempt to be clever
and self-aggrandize
takes you away from what’s real
The most treasured of things
to be loved and endeared
—your actions can’t borrow or steal
