Bled Away

It bleeds, it bleeds, my heart of truest steel Not perfect, nor beauty, but filled with zeal Not enough, though, for my lover to find O how in the world could I have been blind Enough to forget all that has happened Cause-and-effect, boots fastened with straps and Down to the fields we go, hiking the trails Further, further, no time for all the wails Even though you deserted me as well Even as the tinkling of my lone bell Was the only thing keeping you with me And as my hand tired, sadly, so did we Gone were those days with yonder-arrived friends Staying between us are the rope’s frayed ends Heave-ho! heave-ho! You had gone from her too But still, but still, she remembers you too You may want me again, she gone away But now I do not care, I bled away It bleeds, it bleeds, my heart of truest steel Not perfect, nor beauty, but filled with zeal
