Blade So Blue

Friend, you may view me as piteous for my form is quite hideous Bloodstained hands I cannot clean even though I'm fastidious I accidently killed the queen This deed beyond my conception I promised my queen protection My sword I swung it in the dark towards a ghostly reflection It struck my Queen leaving its mark There she lay upon the threshold Although young I then felt so old Dismal in spirit for I loved her true I beg you to be swift and bold Take my life with a blade of blue

It's very nice seeing you work in a form like quintain, Richard. I enjoyed this very much. It seems Shakesperian to me. I am not too "into" his plays but I feel like this might be based on one of them!

Yes, Richard, it is strange to come upon remarks of those who have passed on. That girl named Cheryl or Cheri who died a year or two ago, Linda Sweetheart, Daver. I have known others who passed on from other websites where I read their poems. It's surreal to see their old comments and realize they have gone on to the great beyond. Let me read your poem now.

Richard...please get your muse back! I've so busy this semester with 5 courses to teach. I've just gotten back from my trip to Dubai and I'm trying to catch up. I read this poem again and it is so good. Please, pinch your muse and get her going. Would working on a collab help?

I must admit your references alluded my simple mind until I read your comment. After, it became quite clear and I found your poem, though a bit sad, quite delightful.

Excellent rendering of a grisly event, Richard. Your poetic breadth is resplendently shown. Another mighty fine piece of prose. Heart glow poetry. Love and joy always.

Great write, Richard. I think with William and Kate set to take on the Monarchy next, the people will still be enthralled by royalty. However, this is a great piece to show others who are dissatisfied with royalty. What a splendid write.

I do think they will revitalize the Monachy. Those who are living in poverty probably are not huge fans of the Royals.

A great metaphoric depiction on the so called blue bloods. As time goes on society dictates change A lot of my Canadian friends say they are British Subjects and (which they are) but too me most Canadians are live and let live. To me they are just Canadians.

The monachy is weaved into our fabric and govt. I'm not so sure though if we are loyal subjects. For the most part we give it little thought.

Silent One asked about my metaphor. Here is my explanation. His guilt overwhelmed him and he wished to join her in death. Blue blade referring to blue blood and the death of the monarchy. It symbolizes a way of life in Britain which is being slowly cut away. The Reflection is the dissatisfaction with self and self loathing which results in the attack.
