Blackness In My Soul
I felt a blackness in my soul
Goblins feverishly digging holes
Relentless crumbling of my protection
Seeping madness in all directions
I felt a blackness in my soul
Malignant growths and thoughts so foul
To taint my reason and rationale
With blood-red suggestions; so tempting to tell…
Madness in that – to reveal what lurks at the bottom of the well
I felt a blackness in my soul
No longer restricted, free-flowing currents dark
Consuming the white and freezing my heart
Tendrils slithering about my brain
Whispered promises to stop the pain
I felt a blackness in my soul
And then I let it take control
No more to reason, I quit the fight
And do its bidding in the night.
