Black Eyeliner Girl
So, I’m sitting at this red light
and I look over to spot
a 35 miles to the gallon hybrid Honda
and I spot her
A young, bleached blonde
Maybelline black eyeliner girl
with an Apple Ipod crammed
into her (pierced 4 times) small ears
The cords are knotted around her neck
and I don’t think she notices
I’m staring, thinking she looks hard
for, what, a 14 or 15 year old?
Then I spot her parents
Google eyed, coke bottle glasses
And looking like they waited a few years
before they had their kid
cool-less and clueless
about what it’s like to be
a Maybelline black eyeliner girl
in today’s jacked up world
with school shootings, ecstasy laced hallways
and her half naked photos on My Space
Cause you can tell
they’re only thinking about taxes
and what good gas mileage
their expensive Hybrid is getting
And never thinking their misunderstood
pop culture Princess,
crammed in the small back seat,
is wondering
how the hell she ended up
with such dorky parents?
And wondering
if it would be easier
to swallow some pills, shoot herself,
or just ask for the money for the abortion
Either way, I hope
her parents get a tight grip
Cause her Maybelline black eyeliner is running,
her mind is racing,
and the light just turned green
