Black Diamond
Star,
diamond,
gleaming white,
dots night sky with
glowing, sparkling light.
But when its time is done,
that brilliance wanes to expire;
then a black dwarf it will become.
Once awake and bright, a gem in sky,
sleeps as black diamond in space lullaby.

Note: After stars like the Sun expand to become red giants, they will end their lives as a white dwarf star, until finally dimming to become a black dwarf.
For what happens to massive stars, way larger than our sun, read Daniel Turner's very interesting explanation in his comment below!
